A pure urban student from ENA, the reserved and anxious-by-nature Henri-Marc is sent for an internship to the prefecture of Cher where social movements, led by Mallochat, are creating problems to the prefect of the department. Fighting on the recognition of being the perfect center of France, the towns of Gardefou and Bonnefoy are both looking forward to the expertise and decision of the National Geographic Institute.
Soon entrusted with the task to infiltrate the local « Jacquerie » who threatens the safety of the soon-coming minister of Agriculture, Henri-Marc has an engine failure near Bonnefoy. Taken by Alice to the local garage, he has no other choice but to spend the night at the rural guest house of Mallochet, the famous local leader and Alice's father.
Drawn in the middle of the movement but also at the heart of petty quarrels, Henri-Marc is soon suspected to be the expert awaited by Gardefou to bribe him.
Reluctant hostage and spy at the same time, Henri-Marc will need the help of his tyrannic mother to escape from the hands of the infuriated paesants.
