This docudrama is a re-enactment of the discussions in the French parliament in 1919 on the role of women in society, followed by the vote on the law that gave them the right to vote, and recreates a major parliamentary debate. This law wouldn’t be enforced until 1945. Deep down, this is merely an excuse that allows us to give a particular scope to an age-old debate that is more topical than ever, in a style similar to that of a Belle Époque period movie.
