At Saint Leu, farms burn down with a regularity that owes nothing to chance. Céline, 13, the only daughter of Eva and Colu, follows her volunteer fireman father to each fire. As tension rises in the heart of the village where everyone suspects everyone else, Céline, helpless and hurt, sees the gulf widen between her mother who can no longer stand Colu's disfigured looks and whose affair with the doctor is known to all, and her father who rejects the very idea of a divorce. Céline has the surprise of discovering the fire-setter's identity before anyone else.
